According to the Animal Heroes organization, about 5 million animals (mainly rabbits, mice and monkeys) die and suffer each year during cosmetic tests in Mexico ... For its part, Human Sociaty, manages in it´s web site, the figure of 500,000 annually, in the rest of the world ... Well, despite the technological advances that exist today, to avoid these terrible practices, (such as the creation of human tissues In Vitro, artificial human skin for grafts and even software such as TOPKAK, used by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the US Navy, which predict oral, skin, and eye irritation toxicity), multiple skin care, personal hygiene or beauty product companies insist on continue to carry them out, all under the pretext of "providing us with the highest quality standards"; when in fact, this is not even true, since laws have even been approved in 41 countries: The European Union, Australia, Israel, India, New Zealand, Norway, South Korea and now Colombia (which joined this great achievement on August 10, 2020) arguing that in fact, is quite the opposite, presenting the premise that data obtained from tests carried out on animals may be imprecise to determine the risks to human health; This is supported above all by the fact that each animal species can present a different reaction to a specific chemical for cosmetic use to which they were exposed ... Concluding that these tests are really unreliable. As if that were not enough, it seems that it is also more profitable to carry out tests that do not use animals in both cosmetics and medicine, in addition to being more immediate. Regarding this last area, for example, substances that try to fight cancer, can take up to 8 years to demonstrate their effectiveness and cost more than $ 400,000, when applied to animals, while those that are applied with other methods, they yield results in days and can cost between $ 200 and $ 4,000. Therefore, apparently the corporations that maintain these devious practices do so, just as an "habit" or even for mere commercial interests, since for example in China, it is mandatory that imported cosmetics have been tested on animals.(That SUCKS, right? 😨😒👎)
But although, countries as overpopulated as this, and other "market leading" cosmetics corporations, continue to mistreat innocent living beings, in order to sell "status and luxury", there are others that do care to sell quality products and that foster compassion and love for wildlife, in fact more than 4,900 companies, multinationals, small and large like Dove, elf and Herbal essence, The Body Shop, among many others, that belong to the list or PETA database, which guarantees cruelty free products. You can enter and filter by brand in it´s search engine, or download a PDF with all the brands involved and their websites to acquire it´s products, here it is: https://crueltyfree.peta.org
